Hannah Marie Fonder grew up in the small town of Fredericksburg, TX. Having been put into dance at the age of three, Hannah grew up with a love and appreciation of the arts fostered by her Father and teachers. She accredits her youthful beginnings to the Fredericksburg Theatre Company and the Fredericksburg Youth Ballet Ensemble.
Once interested in expanding her options, she attended NESA (the North East School of the Arts) which helped shape her for college auditions. The training landed her a spot in the BFA class of 2014 at St. Edward's University. With teachers such as Richard Robichaux (Meisner, Showcase, Film Acting) Sheila Gordon (Voice, Period Styles), David Long (Suzuki Viewpoints, Acting, Object Work), Cara Johnston (Vocal Pedagogy, Acting for Musical Theatre), Danny Herman (Musical Theatre Dance), Rocker Veristique (Musical Theatre Dance), Michael McKelvey (Musical Theatre), and Susan Finnigan (Vocal Coaching), Miss Fonder feels ready to tackle the professional world of theatre.
Since arriving in New York City, where Fonder is currently a member of Actors Equity Association, she has worked at Columbia University with directors from the MFA Directing program. This has afforded her the opportunity to briefly work with Anne Bogart (Siti Company) and Brian Kulcik (Classic Stage Company) as supervisors of Fonder's director Paulina Jonisdottir (Columbia MFA class of 2017).
Fonder most recently premiered in a new work at the NY Fringe Festival, The Dance of Life, choreographed and conceptualized by Gwynedd Vetter-Drusch.
"Footage of thousands of butterflies nestled against trees and released in the air acts as backdrop to the graceful movement of the cast of dancers, all dressed in black except for the Young Girl (Hannah Marie Fonder), flouncy dress and wide-eyed innocence conveying her sense of wonder. Fonder dances her part with commitment and impressive athleticism, achieving great heights on her many lifts and embodying a genuinely believable child."
